I will admit - I am going full on homer on this analysis. I first saw Parris when he appeared at St. Vincent - St. Mary as a high school sophomore. Even back then - it was apparent that Parris had two Rs in his name because he was Road Runner "Beep Beep" fast. He was virtually "unguardable" because NO ONE in the state of Ohio could come close to matching his speed. Parris also had the distinction of being one of Urban Meyer's first scholarship offers at Ohio State. Urban had seen no tape on Parris - he offered him a full ride after only one half of seeing him live in the state championship game of 2012! Parris ended up repaying Urban's confidence, because 5 years later - he was a Buckeye team captain and a mainstay of the program.
Parris arrived in Columbus in Sept. of 2013 as a skinny, just turned 17 year old. If there ever was a kid that needed a redshirt season - it was Parris. And he was making the transition from a high school "play anywhere on the field" player to a full time college wide receiver. Not easy at all - there were struggles. But Parris kept at it, kept working.
Slowly but surely, he grew as a wide receiver. He was also physically growing into his now robust body frame. Parris had a coronation season last year when Dwayne Haskins became his starting QB. With Haskins being able to just flick his wrist to launch a 30 yard laser down the field, Parris blossomed into what I saw as his ceiling 5 years prior. Put Parris 25 yards downfield, with the ball in his hands - and he showed just how lethal he could be. The term "game changer" applies - because Parris can house it from any point on the field at any time.
My man just hung a 4.31 on the board yesterday at the combine..... WOW! Early in 2019, he was being touted as a 4th round pick. Sorry - that is obsolete information now. Parris has worked his way all the way up to 1st - 2nd round consideration. Take a peek.
