@Neil This prospect was mentioned in on of your posts, so I decided to look a bit deeper at him - and man, am I glad I did. So, thank you - now let's delve a bit deeper.
The first thing that jumps out at me about Hakeem is his size and speed. In that respect, I would have to say he is similar to JuJu Smith Schuster of the Steelers. In just JuJu's second season, you can see how his body frame has him soaring up the list of Big Ben's favorite receivers.
The next thing that really catches my eye is the strength of this kid's hands. He has been coached well, He never allows the ball to get into his body - he always uses his hands away from his body to snatch passes out of the air. Once the ball gets close to his hands - it is simply his and it is not coming out.
But maybe the most impressive thing about Hakeem is his catch radius. You can see on the clip how skilled he is already at receiving the back shoulder fade pass. I mentioned earlier about his hand strength. You will also see how well he high points the ball in traffic - this skill is absolutely vital in the NFL. But the last thing about his catch radius is Hakeem's ability to adjust his route on the fly to make his QB look good on an imperfect throw. Not every throw is going to be perfectly out in front of you. I am sure all his QBs are grateful Hakeem has the ability to reach behind him to get balls that otherwise would have hit the turf - or worse yet - land in enemy hands. I see a lot of these in All Pro Michael Thomas of the Saints.
Lastly, I want to come back to Hakeem's speed. Hakeem will put DBs in a compromised position. Once he decides he has had enough of them and wants to leave them in his wake - I just have two words for the DBs......
Buh. Bye.
Butler's name is starting to really become popular in the draft community. He's flying up boards on mocks.
I don't know if we end up with Hakeem, but one thing I do know - this kid is gonna be a star in the NFL. My God - how do you not like him? I mean seriously..........
