Last Wednesday (6/26) was the one month to go dateline. First full practice is Friday 7/26/19.
Our team has kind of changed since we last saw them on the field in Baltimore.
Probably the biggest change (1A) was former HC, Triple G, is now coaching the defense for the New Yawk Jets. I wish him well.
The other biggest change (1B) was the trade for OBJ. Absolutely no question, this single addition makes BOTH SIDES of the ball on this team elite. Offensively, he will force defenses to pick who they will double cover. Can't double cover them all.
Defensively, Sundays will be considered a walk in the park for our DBs after getting burned by OBJ and gang all day every day in practice.
So what is everyone's feelings about what the team still needs? What is the question you are most looking forward to training camp answering?
I am most looking forward to the Duke saga being resolved one way or the other. Make no mistake about it - this situation was handled poorly by Duke, and the fallout from that. But that does not change the fact that Duke is a hell of a football player and a viable weapon for this offense. I am also on record, and I am sticking to my guns, that the Browns could move Duke to shore up another area of the team - and never miss a beat along the way.
The other training camp battle I want to keep an eye on is the battle for WR5, WR6, and if they choose to keep that many - WR7. Remember just a few seasons ago, if you had a pulse and did not drop a bubble screen pass - you were anointed for a trip to Canton by the Dawg Pound. Now? You would be a fool to think that OBJ, Jarvis, Callaway and Higgins don't make this roster. That's where the free for all the remaining spots begins. Bottom line - a wide receiver with legitimate NFL talent is going to be let go by the Browns.
Blast away folks!
