My buddy Matt and I are certifiable HS FB junkies. A few years back, we realized that both of our sets of kids had completed high school - so why were we limiting ourselves to watching just those schools? We decided to begin to roam all across the Northern Ohio landscape in search of good high school games on a weekly basis. The memories have been priceless - with many more to come. I have had the pleasure of seeing so many good games as well as meeting some of you knuckleheads.
What is so special about a Friday night game is that it is the epicenter of a high school student's social experience. It is what completes a "well rounded" education. The excitement and enthusiasm of that night is infectious, it is palpable, and it rubs off on us old guys too. The game is as pure as it gets at that level. Every student athlete participating is doing so because the have a love for the game, not for their next contract.
I will publish a proposed schedule of games over the summer that Matt and I plan on attending. Any and all are welcome to hop aboard the Friday Night Express with us - or suggest a game of your own that we would come to you to see.
I can't wait to check out your HS posts. Also, if you'd like to invite Matt to the site as well that would be awesome!
Matt has a hell of a lot on his plate right now - they had a pipe burst at home back in September. It did massive damage to the interior of the home. They are in the home stretch of having the home put all back together. When the time is right - consider the invitation extended.
Re: Open Invitation for anyone to join us this year
I are a certifiable NERD when it comes to High School Football in NE Ohio. To my point, when I pick a game we are going to see, I refer to the spread sheet I maintain each season. Just from from the list of conferences and independents I think we stand a chance at seeing - that list reached 73 teams last year. Every weekend, I update the scores from the latest game.
Hasn't always worked out this way - but hopefully I try to get the better games as the season progresses.
I am always open to new ideas and new teams.
