I like the analogy in the article that this would be the equivalent of an MLB team sending a player to AAA for more innings or ABs. Seems like it would be valuable.
I know the parameters of who would be eligible are still being worked out, but the standing proposal is that NFL clubs would loan players to the AAF for their season to further their development under coaches specifically geared to player development.
Here are my two suggestions:
The NFL has eight divisions. The AAF has eight teams. When determined what player eligibility is each NFL division establishes a pool of available players. Each AAF team is assigned an NFL division, and selects players from that NFL divisional pool.
Secondly, the AAF's mission statement is they are a second chance & developmental league. I would hate to be a player on the bottom of an AAF roster, and yet get bumped by an NFL player on loan. I would hope that the AAF would allow for say, six additional NFL "loan" players - and those players not affect the roster limits of the current players.
