So weird to watch highlights... of a guard. Blowing up three guys on Hunt's touchdown vault was just the latest. He's making a lot of money... so I guess there's that happy downside (!).
Kind of relates to the Rams doing things a little differently, paying not one but two WRs, not one but two TEs. Browns need to pay Teller and Chubb, even though it's a bit unconventional for 2020 and beyond.
And Higgins. That's my next piece of annoying repetition. You assume you can just replace him with another "technician," but he's made himself too valuable. He got bigger, more sudden, and elite at the routing bid'ness. Always caught everything. Locked in with his QB. You lose that, you have no idea how long it might take to build someone else up to that level.
Of all our WRs, he's the one I'd want locked in along with the RBs and TEs for the next few years. You could sign one in f/a and draft one in R2 to go with him... but you gotta start with him.
We all had "Wyatt Teller being the best guard in the league and it won't be particularly close" on our 2020 bingo board. Not a shock.
That Hunt touchdown, man. Teller blocked three fucking guys, EFFECTIVELY, throughout the duration of that play. He's been stunning. Credit to Dorsey for grabbing him, and credit to Berry for identifying the talent without leaping to replace "the old guy's player."
He's been incredibly impressive this season, and he isn't showing any signs of slowing down. The whole OL, really, has been impressive. I'm happy with the direction there.
Impressive. Seriously, watching Teller is kind of a first for me. He does crazy things.
Teller, Bitonio, Chubb, Myles, and Denzel should be our Pro Bowl types. Baker opened too slow unless he continues to go off, including on MNF. Actually, he's up to 12th in PR, if he torches the Ravens and gets to like 24-7? Moves into the top 10? He at least gets into the discussion.
Denzel's injury could hurt him but those seem to be our "stars" for the season.
Wyatt an animal? Uh yeah - and I gots the film to proves it. I hear the conversation from the eastern end of Lake Erie these days starts with "Where the hell was this a few years ago?"
The only downside is the guy gets more and more expensive with each passing game. Good thing the OBJ move has fallen flat because we're basically going to have to give most of that money to Teller.
I don't have a problem with it. I'm just concerned we need to lock down Teller, Ward, Chubb and Mayfield. All of those guys are going to be extremely expensive, although it is hard to say what Mayfield will cost because he's not going to re-set the market but he won't come cheap either.
And that's to say nothing of some of the other guys like Higgins who won't break the bank but it does all add up. We're almost certainly not going to be competitive with retaining Ogunjobi, Njoku, etc.
Teller is a wonderful surprise, but he's about to be a very expensive one too.
Wyatt has turned into one of the best guards I have seen in a long, long time. So much so that I think it would be appropriate if he switched jersey numbers to 66. His play and off the field demeanor would certainly honor the legacy of that jersey - Hall of Famer Gene Hickerson.
Guys like Teller not only win you games, they win you championships. He is an integral part of a unit that is vital to the success of this team.
Resigning him should just be chalked up to the cost of doing business.
I think it's about 100% likely the Browns lock down Baker, Higgins, Chubb, Teller, and Ward. They're crucial and essential. It's like the Rams doing the weirdo move of paying 2 WRs and 2 TEs... but it's turned out to make sense.
For our team, those guys are central to what we do, in addition to Myles. We're expected to have about 27m with the new cap, puts us way ahead of most teams. We have plenty of space to keep locking in the core, shifting money is always in play.
We jump up to like 42m if we can move OBJ. I really think we will. There's someone out there like the Jets who will see the splash of Trevor and OBJ on their media guide. Have at it.
Keep Higs and Landry and draft some speed. Oh, and I'm in on DPJ, Trent. He's locked in.
Pro-Bowl is all about stats and reputation. Which, I can't be too mad at. These are the players the fans wanted. But our whole fucking OL should be there and so should Denzel Ward.
If Baker's current run had started just a few weeks earlier, he'd be there too.
I just watched the Steelers film and my god it was nice to see Teller back out there. He had some really nice moments, was key in opening up some running lanes and he gave up almost nothing in the passing game.
Actually, thinking back on it, that Mayfield miss to Hodge which would have been a touchdown was perhaps slightly impacted by Mayfield's own guy being pushed back and it might have been Teller. I didn't really pay attention just because it was nice to see another moment where it wasn't really on Mayfield.
But, yeah, so good to see him out there. We're a much better team with Teller on the field.
Whatever else falls apart this week from Covid, having Teller and Chubb is really key. We went light on Chubb's workload and ran way below our usual play-actions, so I expect to get a whole lot of both on Sunday.
I really hope we can pull it out so Bitonio and Stef can come back for the next one. It's a very tall order but shit happens in sports, always has.
Not me man. Shep would kick my ass.
So would Teller... man’s an animal.

Your boy has some shimmie, and some shake, Shep.
He's ridiculous. In the good way. This OL is simply the very best in the NFL and Chubb is simply the best RB.
Geek out confessional time here: when I rewatch throughout, I take turns focusing on offensive and defensive lines.
GamePass is so damn addicting, man.
Impressive. Seriously, watching Teller is kind of a first for me. He does crazy things.

Take a peek and smile....
The only downside is the guy gets more and more expensive with each passing game. Good thing the OBJ move has fallen flat because we're basically going to have to give most of that money to Teller.
And you have issue with that, Senor Trent? 😀
Not me man, the ROI on Teller is a SHIT TON higher than it would be with Odell. Andrew Berry is smart enough not to let OBJ's salary cripple the team.
I don't have a problem with it. I'm just concerned we need to lock down Teller, Ward, Chubb and Mayfield. All of those guys are going to be extremely expensive, although it is hard to say what Mayfield will cost because he's not going to re-set the market but he won't come cheap either.

I agree Trent.

As I mentioned Gene Hickerson, a fine tribute.

Doesn’t even make the Pro Bowl.... what an unbelievable joke!
Yuck. Only Garrett, Bitonio and Chubb make the Pro-Bowl.
So dumb.
Pro Bowl is a joke in general. Evan Engrem made it. Is it fans and players? I care more about the football writers, so I guess that's All Pro?
Tellers missed a lot of time but come on. He should be on the All Pro team.
Pro-Bowl is all about stats and reputation. Which, I can't be too mad at. These are the players the fans wanted. But our whole fucking OL should be there and so should Denzel Ward.

I just saw he and Conklin both made the PFF All-Pro team, too. Nice. PFF's 2020 NFL All-Pro Team: Aaron Rodgers, Derrick Henry and Aaron Donald highlight PFF's All-Pro roster | NFL News, Rankings and Statistics | PFF
#LockHimUp and also re-sign Teller.

Second Team. Close.
