Beckman to become a leader and put the egotistical stuff (wrist watch) in the trash can. He needs to find a role model who is a pro football wr first and foremost to emulate.
The penalties have to be eliminated by 90% if this team is going to win any games.
Dorsey and coaches are going to need to upgrade the OL where the needs are most critical.
The coaching by DL coaches could be better also. I watch our arch rivals (Steelers) last game and even though they got beat that DL + LBs were far superior to the Browns if you use the Browns vs Titans game as a comparison. There's no doubt in my mind and has never been one that the Steelers continuity with Defensive coaches and systems has been their reason for success for years now. jmho
I also don't feel Njoku is ever going to be another Ossie Newsome for us. He may be an athletic freak but, he's got a way to go to catch up to some of the other TEs in the NFL.
The whole team needs to quit with the rhetoric and start playing football........winning football.
Mayfield and others need to stay away from social media and become more focused on their jobs and proved they can be competitive professionals.
Outside of the aforementioned issues to me we've got no worries. Just do the basics (tackling, blocking, passing, receiving etc.) correctly and better than the opposition and just win baby!
OBJ wearing a watch didn't cause that loss, it was a total lack of discipline on both sides of the ball. So, you're right, the penalties have to go away. As for the OL, I'd agree but who is available that would be an upgrade? I also think wee still need a kicker. In closing, it looks like it's just gonna take time for this team to gel, overhyped coming into this season and it shows.
Well, we seen flashes of what this team can do. still, they're gonna need an even better effort next week against the Rams, personally, I feel another HUGE LOSS headed the Browns way, I just don't think they're at the level, just yet, to handle the top teams.
Baker seemed to be holding the ball a bit too long a lot of the time, also seemed to be confused with the defensive coverage and not reading it very well. Too often, and this might be on Kitchens as much as anybody, but the Browns seemed to be trying for the homerun more times than might usually be necessary instead of taking what the d is giving and I think we still need to see a bit more run game, I''m convinced, once Chubb gets warmed up, he'll break some big runs and I believe he can do that agains any defense.
The D looked good, had a little trouble with Bell at times but still held him in check for the most part, need to do the same with Gurly but Myles needs to cut out the personal fouls, still he was a beast last night and in the back field a lot, keep up the great work. It's gonna take a monster effort for the Browns to win against the Rams, is it possible, sure, is it likely, not really. I see the Browns hanging pretty good in the first half, then letting the game slip away in the second half. 34-20 Rams is my guess, I believe the Browns will get there, but as of now, still need to upgrade the OL and we still can't find the endzone enough.
I'm very concerned with the OL and its impact on Baker's being able to perform like he did last year. Also, like I posted just now.............where's Genard Avery. If healthy he should be playing either at LB or DE rotations. He's a action guy and always seems to be near the ball.
Yeah, I'm also concerned with the OL, especially against a Rams defense that is very good. Yeah, I don't want Baker to fall into bad habits due to a weak OL. I'm not sure about Avery but I agree, if he's not hurt, why is he not getting some time.
Somebody, like Dorsey maybe needs to talk to Baker about getting trapped into little "mind games" from people not even in the NFL today. To just concentrate on improving and being patient with how the OL isn't performing in front of him until they get it fixed. jmho Okay, things aren't going too good right now with various factors but so what; just keep plugging at getting better and leave cyber garbage alone.
With this team in need of offensive line help wouldn't we benefit from bringing in Matt Kalil? He's a free agent so he wouldn't cost draft picks. He's a 7 year vet first round pick (#4 overall). Couldn't hurt to give him a look no??
He would be what I consider the short term fix. If you choose to go in another direction later, so be it. This tackle class coming out is loaded with quality prospects. The Browns will no longer have the ability to cherry pick from the top of the draft, but three realistic targets for the bottom half of round one would be:
Tristan Wirfs, Iowa
Alaric Jackson, Iowa
Calvin Throckmorton, Oregon
@Brooksie , I'm talking about help now, not next year.
@ParmaDawg - that is why I agreed with you. What I meant by short term was indeed this season
