Draft pick update: The Browns sent over a 2021 5th-rounder to Jacksonville in exchange for Ronnie Harrison. That leaves the Browns with 9 picks in 2021, including an extra 3rd and an extra 4th. Browns went from two 5th-rounders to one (Austin Corbett trade).

Terrific move by the Browns. Why a young, cheap, solid starting safety who could easily become more is going for a 5th I do not know.
Saw it written, so we turned Austin Corbett into Ronnie Harrison.

.@Browns just traded for an incredibly smart player. Due to his position flex, most assumed Minkah Fitzpatrick was the brains of Alabama secondary in ‘17 but Harrison was the main communicator and teammates said Nick Saban spoke to Harrison on different level than anyone else.
Harrison really took a step last year, 71 tackles and 9/2 on pass defense. Mostly a free safety but has versatility Joe likes. Another SEC guy for a defense filled with them!
I'm still kinda pinching myself. Popped up this morning that he was on the block and I thought, "This is the most AB thing ever. He's very young, very cheap, worth every drop of his draft slot (3rd) and maybe more... got him for a 5th.
He got in some trouble last season. Can't say why they'd let him walk but they're basically letting everybody walk.
Harrison, Delpit, and Redwine all on rookie deals next year. Makes you wonder if this changes the equation on Joseph. Our best safety right now.
Just love this. AB is working at an elite level.
From PD; "He started 14 games last season, finishing second on the team with 70 tackles and nine passes defensed. He also had two sacks, two interceptions and a fumble recovery."
I love combos like that from safeties: Covers, tackles, creates turnovers. And nutty smart. Potential long-term starter, mix it up with Joseph, Redwine, and eventually Delpit. I love Sendejo but he feels like a transition guy.
Harrison was one of the names on the NFL list I posted yesterday of potential trades, and I almost posted that I would love to see the Browns trade for him.
Super talented guy who really flashed last year. He made his fair share of mistakes but there is no doubt there could still be a legitimate starting player there.
I don't know what Jacksonville are doing but the rumors they're chasing a Swinney and Lawrence combo for next year are getting harder and harder to ignore.
100%. Draft picks are over-valued but man... this is a great trade. Not sure what's the story on the Jags side. I get that they're tanking... but he's cheap and really good, giving them massive bang for their buck. Why do that?
A fun point of note is we play Jacksonville in week 12. They've traded a starting safety for nothing (to us), released their star running back and shipped off their best pass rusher for basically nothing.
Week 12 without Harrison, Ngakoue and Fournette isn't nearly as scary.
Some have knocked his PFF grades, but if you look game to game, he graded well. Like a lot of young players, he just needs consistancy, as with PFF, a mistake here and there will sink you down the list.
6 f 'n 3 man. He's a horse.

I was reading that he is prone to playing well but then making a mental error there and there, which would explain the PFF grade. It would be interesting to see his drive-to-drive grades - is he a guy who plays poorly across the board or is he someone who plays well but then ruins it with a bad drive? It sounds like there is more than a few people who think it is the latter.
Also interesting is I've read he's much better in coverage than against the run, which is interesting for a guy of his size. Personally, I feel it's easier to coach a player up against the run than it is to try and train coverage instincts. It's one of the reasons I was all in on Denzel Ward - I don't give a shit about his run defending and tackling, that's easier to coach than trying to teach elite coverage skills.
The guy could be an absolute steal for us with two years left on his deal. Definitely takes off some of the pressure to replace Sendejo and Joseph next year should we decide to move on.
A buddy of mine is a very wealthy, Jacksonville season ticket holder. Let's just say he gets access. Anyway, he said that Ramsey, Fournette and Harrison all hung together and were all cancers in the locker room. He said part of what they are doing is getting rid of all the players with 'shitty attitudes', hence the trade. However, he is a 'big dude with talent'.
That having been said, a change of scenery; getting away from the other guys who perpetuated the negative attitudes; and new coaches who won't put up with B.S. are all a positive. He is an extremely talented player who was dirt cheap...and fills a huge area of need. He was definitely worth the risk. Great move by Berry...who is proving his title as one of the best young GM's in the NFL.
Change of scenery + Joe Woods, who wants a well sized SS for his big nickel defense.
He’s like the 4th player we know of who didn’t like it in Jax. And that’s just this off season alone.
Coach him up Joe.
Mack Wilson’s fantastic attitude can‘t hurt to be around either.

Do we take it as a positive that the locker room issues were well known for Ramsey and Fournette, but not Harrison?
I'll take it as a concern they didn't want Harrison even without Ramsey and Fournette, which suggests they didn't think getting away from the others would resolve whatever issues he has.
On the bright side, I've been reading a lot regarding Harrison being one of the more intelligent players you could acquire. Stuff about him being the leader of the Crimson Tide, that Saban could talk to him on a level beyond others, etc.
I just have a gut feeling it's a culture thing there.
Calais Campbell, Ramsey, Harrison, Fournette, and Ngakoue are all bad seeds / unhappy and it's all on them as players? I dunno. That's a lot of finger pointing.
Oh, and add how our current culture has calmed down Redwine, Higgins, Njoku, and OBJ. They weren't bad seeds, but they all have versions of rumbling and unhappiness in the last year.
Mack is pumped

Follows the Joe Thomas rule of, "always trade a Saturday draft picks for known NFL talent".
5th round picks are "hope we got a good backup, more is a bonus", so sending a 5th for a bonafide starter from another team is smart.
Hey there Big Nickel, good to see ya

Who doesn't love some highlights?
We done stole this dude.

More importantly, do they have anything else we want?
Josh Allen... Joe Schobert (heh)

Harrison, Delpit, and Redwine has a chance to be our starting point for 2021. Agree. It’s hopeful.

The right culture matters.
