Once again the National Media is proving they have ZERO sense of what the Browns are about and have ZERO concept of the Browns outside of a farm system for the rest of the league...and the NE Patriots in particular.
So...now that the Browns have completely discredited the 'rumors' about OJB being traded to anyone (especially the Patriots), they are pitching the Browns trading Landry to the Patriots.
“The Cleveland Browns will trade Jarvis Landry — and not OBJ — to the New England Patriots,” Ninkovich said during an appearance on ESPN’s “Get Up” on Friday. “So, watch out. Cam (Newton) is going to have a target in Landry, and everyone’s going to be super afraid of that one.”
Landry is far more productive, has far better chemistry with Mayfield, and has a contract through 2022. It would also force the Browns to incur $3M in dead money if he were to be traded or cut by the end of 2020 season.
In other words, the MSM is again just pretending the Browns are the Patriots farm system. Wonder when they are suddenly going to be 'given' Chubb and/or Bryant.
I saw that and kind of laughed. The Browns couldn't have more firmly denied any reports of OBJ being traded, and last week's game was a step in the right direction for the two. As for Landry, they'd trade Odell before Landry, and they're not trading Odell... sooo?
If we're laughing at media, I'd like to add NFL dot com's latest QB rankings:
Mayfield has moved to 22 after being listed 30th following his struggles against Baltimore. However, he finds himself behind Joe Burrow, Daniel Jones, Justin Herbert (Yep, he's already 18th) and basically everyone else. He only narrowly edges out Trubisky and Fitzpatrick.
We really need Mayfield to turn up the heat against Washington and then topple Dallas. That'll get people's attention.
@BDU That's the NFL for you. It's either this or the entropic fruits of Cian Fahey's mind.
I have long loathed anyone who has only known about the team because they were forced to (hello national beat your meat media) and then they have an arrogant attitude that they know more about the team I have followed passionately for over 50 years.
So yeah, up yours you all knowledge chameleons.
I also love those "farm team" trade returns. It's always like backup UDFA LB Joe Markenshimer (because they've read we don't like our LBs) and a 4th round pick for Landry (!). Like that.
