Kevin Stefanski Adds Familiar Face To Cleveland Browns Coaching Staff With Hiring Of Kevin Rodgers
BrandonLittle 6 hours ago The Cleveland Browns have added an offensive assistant to the team, as things have been quiet lately. Cleveland will be adding Kevin Rogers to the staff, who will be helping out on the offensive side of the football this coming season. Rodgers was the Minnesota Vikings quarterbacks coach when current Cleveland Browns’ head coach Kevin Stefanski was an assistant quarterbacks coach in Minnesota. Rodgers was with the Vikings from 2006 until 2011 when he left to be the offensive coordinator at Boston College. He would spend one year there before heading to Temple to be the assistant to the head coach. Rodgers then spent three years at William & Mary and has been out of coaching since 2016. At the age of 68, Rodgers has been around the game of football for a long time, over 40 years to be exact. Really getting his career started as a graduate assistant in 1977 at Ohio State, Rodgers has also coached at Navy, Syracuse, Virginia Tech and Minnesota. Rodgers has some familiarity with Stefanski from his Minnesota days and this move makes plenty of sense for Stefanski to bring him on the staff as an offensive assistant. It’s no secret that Cleveland has the players and personnel to have a high scoring offense, all signs pointing toward that exactly being the plan. Adding another offensive assistant that has plenty of experience working with quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers and offensive linemen. Cleveland has picked up an older football mind with a nice background in the game.
"Nice to see there's still a place for us old dinosaurs in game of coaching in Cleveland."😎

Boy, it's hard for me with these non-specific assistant jobs to know the value, but if KS likes him and feels he adds value, well then that's good enough for me.
And speaking of offense, with this weird preseason, I wonder if AVP still has a shot at calling plays.
Based on their working relationship in Minnesota, I can only assume this is an example of Stefanski working to put people around him that he trusts. Someone with a lifetime of experience in football, and at some point likely contributed to Stefanski figuring out his process for what his job looks like on a weekly basis.
I like it. You can't go wrong in having people around you to help share the load and provide fresh perspective.
I find it interesting that KS goes out and gets the guy he coached Favre with...arguably Favre's best season. Makes you wonder if KS sees a bit of Favre in Mayfield.
Bingo - DF64!
This may be one of the key, under the radar signings to bolster our coaching staff from 2019 to 2020. Like you said, Kevin Rogers was in Minnesota when Favre had one of his better years. Coincidentally, right or wrong - Brett Favre has always been my pro comparison to Baker Mayfield.
Let's put it this way. My brother Jim and I were talking earlier in the week. We easily could have eked out 3 more wins in 2019. That would have put us at 8-8. The fallout from an 8-8 record would be:
Freddie and his "throw it against the wall to see if it sticks" offensive philosophy is still your head coach.
Freddie as HC clearly stunts Baker growth as a QB.
And 8-8 puts us in a drafting position that puts us out of reach of Jedrick Wills.
Things happen for a reason....
Young coaches usually do this, little bit of payback for a guy who helped him and a sage voice who's been there and done that. He clearly wants to work and his protege made it happen.
I dig it.
