OL needs serious improvement for upcoming Thursday night game vs Steelers. Steelers' DL is starting to gel and are not far from becoming the next great Steel Curtain Version II. They've added or stolen a future great DB in Minkah Fitzpatrick and with Haden staying healthy, their defensive backfield is becoming stronger each game.
Pretty obvious we need to fix the red zone play and find a RB who can get through that wall of defensive monsters. I don't know if we can count on Joe Kerridge, FB at all who's been on the IR and if he's ready to help. If not him then maybe employ one of our big linemen to fill in on those goal line rushes. 0-8 on GL chances and no bananas!!!! What are we going to be like facing the Steelers in their Red Zone?
I still say we need a big TE who we can count on to make great blocks and has good hands and loves mixing it up a little. I can hope 2020 draft we find a dominating LB who will become a main stay for the Browns in the future. Schobert is tough and smart but he no Ray Lewis. This team is still missing some important pieces and foremost is LT, RG and RT. If we can somehow find necessary talent next off-season then I can understand seeing a good reason for all the hype that has been toss around this season. With a much stalwart OL we can look forward to see the Baker Mayfield we all expected to see this season. Yes, he still on the learning curve but, the talent is there he's getting hit way too much. The other teams have a 'book' on him now and are more prepared to make counter-moves in stopping him. Notice he's not running as much and he shouldn't have to, if he had a some decent support to protect him around the pocket.
Finally, if Freddie and his coaches can't do the job of teaching the basics of tackling, blocking,
staying onside (O and D) side of the ball etc.; then we've got to find other men who will teach these guys the rules of the game and how to stay focused on doing their jobs as professionally as they are able and when they accomplish that...................they will finally begin to understand that teams win championships not a bunch of 'glorified' stars who only care about their own egos and being the centre of attraction all the time. These fashion stars need to become leaders for the team by performing and training to their best abilities in doing their jobs.
If this team could come out from the start of game and play as good as they're able to and score a couple touchdowns from the get go...................I think our record would be a lot better than it is now notwithstanding the tough competition we had to face from the start. jmho
