Please place news of other interesting, or surprising cuts - or players the Browns may be interested in now that the are loose.
I'll start - the Jaguars severed ties with RB Leonard Fournette today. We gotta get him - he went to LSU, right?
Showing myself out.....
Looking like the Viks will cut Riley Reiff over their salary impasse.
Saw that.
I know the man wants paid - and I don't blame him, but dayammmm -
He would be a great fit here. He's 31 - which is "experienced"; not ancient.
$10-11m per is probably too steep tho.
Reiff? For what? Our OL is pretty set and I just read that Teller's received virtually no coverage because he's been consistently good.
I'd be deeply into Myles Jack if I ever thought paying a freaking LB 14m made sense. The Browns don't think paying a LB 8m makes sense!
Probably wasn't a great idea. And I agree - paying that kind of coin means he is an instant starter for alot of years.
Wills is never going to get any better unless he faces full speed live fire in a game situation.
My money is on us picking up a safety from cuts, and maybe a back-up guard/center.
Otherwise, I'm thinking we like what we have to choose from already on the roster.
Today makes it sound like Tretter is gonna play, but we'll see. He might even practice later this week.
I could definitely see a short-term vet pickup at safety. So much of what we do there depends on how they feel about Redwine, Delpit's recovery... and whether the window is open now or we're just in the on-deck circle.
There's a discussion: Do the Browns believe they're championship contenders in 2020? Or are we last season's Titans? Working shit out? They had more to work out (QB) but by the end of the year were a massive handful.
That’d be the one thing against further player acquisitions.
It’s such a goofy year, it’s hard for a team like the Browns to know if they should go all-in or not.
The smart play for AB might be to be happy with the talent we currently have, preserve the cap, and head into next year knowing exactly what we need.
I tend to think we may churn the back of the roster, but no major moves
I think they're happy with the LBs, especially with Smith in and Mack not missing more than a few games. Could they make a late trade for a safety? Possibly. Could be someone who's getting waived and the Browns wanna make sure they get him for a 6th or 7th.
But yeah, everything else seems set. It's a really, really strong roster. Certainly top 10 but I'd say closer to top 5. Keeping the core and drafting to fill in, maybe one targeted f/a, that'll be our new MO.
Like winners.

According to Rappaport, Dolphins parting ways with Josh Rosen.

Man, Jeremiah did not cut Rosen any slack. Said the Cardinals deserve credit for recognizing a mistake and moving on from it... and then same for the Dolphins.
Bad situations, no doubt. But Jeremiah says there's no twitch or urgency to him, especially the lower half, no explosion from the legs. Overrated him.
He could settle into a long career as a solid backup... but he'll have to get over the asshole part of the equation.
Sydney Jones (CB) getting but by Eagles... maybe that’s why Olumba and green were cut
Bullseye Phil. And Andrew Berry came from Philadelphia.

Ravens have also cut TE Jerell Adams, per source. Along with waiving Charles Scarff and Eli Wolf, that means that they will go with just 2 true TEs for the time being.
Have to say, and maybe it's my lack on knowledge, but I've yet to see a cut player I want more than the one we have at a given position.
Some grumblings about Njoku not sticking around... stay tuned
Panthers just revealed their 53, 2 hours ahead of the deadline. We. Will. See.
I gotta think Njoku makes it. To outright release a young elite athlete who performed well in his one healthy season would be very un-AB like.
Trade as an option...
I've seen "a 5th" thrown around. Man, that won't go over well nationally. Some fan base will claimed they fleeced us, and they'd be right.
I'm more thinking there are other players at other positions who are more easily passed through waivers on our team, and it's a strategy / methodology thing.
