I really liked Jaelen in the 2015 draft coming out of Arizona State. But he is a three year veteran now, and bluntly - not much to show for it. He also has had some substance abuse issues - and he is coming off an ACL injury.
Athletically, he has the size and speed. Maybe a change of scenery is what was needed to draw that talent out of him. The time is now, Jaelen. You are teetering on the fence of being a bust. Get up and answer the door - it is opportunity knocking.
Browns newly-signed WR Jaelen Strong ‘extremely hungry’ after sitting out 2018 with ACL injury
Updated 3:22 PM; Posted 2:09 PM 3 minutes
CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Browns have signed wide receiver Jaelen Strong, who’s eager to prove himself after battling back from a torn ACL at the end of the 2017 season.
Strong’s agent, Robert L. Ray of Ambition Sports Management Group, revealed his client’s up and down journey back to the field.
“On the road to recovery he has had his good days and he has had his bad days,’’ said in an Instagram post. “Nonetheless, he stayed focused and he endured the test of time and patience. ASMG would like to thank the (Cleveland Browns). Your organization is getting an extremely hungry football player and I can’t wait to see him eat real, real soon.’’
Strong, 25, was a third-round pick of the Texans (70th overall) in 2015 out of Arizona State and has played three NFL seasons.
On Oct. 8, 2015 against the Colts, his first two catches were both good for touchdowns, including a Hail Mary at the end of the first half. He finished the year with 14 receptions for 161 yards and two TDs. Midway through his second season, he suffered a serious ankle sprain and was ultimately placed on injured reserve. He was limited to only 14 catches for 131 yards and no TDs in eight games.
In 2017, Strong was suspended for the Texans’ season opener after being charged with marijuana possession in the offseason, and he played in week two before they waived him. Strong was claimed by the Jaguars on Sept. 19, but released and re-signed to the practice squad. He was promoted to the active roster on Dec. 23, and was active for his first game in week 16 against the 49ers.
Strong caught three passes for 38 yards and a touchdown, but suffered the torn ACL and was placed on injured reserve. The Jaguars released him on April 30, and he sat out of football last year.
He joins a receiving corps that includes Jarvis Landry, Antonio Callaway, Rashard Higgins, and pending free agent Breshad Perriman.
Strong (6-2, 217) has played in 20 career games with three starts, and started one playoff game. He has 31 receptions passes for 330 yards with four touchdowns. Coming out in 2015, he ran a 4.4 in the 40 and posted on Twitter in November that he’s back and stronger than ever.
Well, this is why ppl and media have called the Browns dumb, we let Josh Gordon go, because of a substance abuse issue, then we sign another WR, with a known substance abuse issue. I'm not sure about this signing but I guess we'll see. I do hope we get a WR or 2 that we know will be good, either in FA or the draft.

Greg Robinson agrees to new deal with Browns

The Browns opened talks about a new contract with left tackle Greg Robinson in hopes of getting a deal done before the start of the new league year on March 13 and they’ve accomplished their goal.
Robinson’s agents announced on Monday afternoon that their client has agreed to terms with the Browns. Their Twitter announcement makes no mention of those terms, but multiple reports peg it as a one-year deal.
Robinson signed with the Browns in June and opened the season as a backup to Desmond Harrison. He took over the job at midseason and started the rest of the way as Cleveland closed the year with five wins in their final eight games.
That performance convinced the Browns that he can help as they try to turn that strong close into a winning 2019 season and represented a big step up from what Robinson did for the Rams and Lions after being drafted No. 2 overall in 2014.
Wow - I better get up sooner - Stabber beat me to the punch......
This is a tremendous Dorsey move. Former #2 overall pick, so he had to have some talent some where along the line. You pick him up on the cheap, give him an 8 game trial run during 2018 to evaluate if he is worth keeping around. Now you sign him to a one year "prove it" deal - and you pair him with the best OL coach in thge business. If that works out - Greg will have the big contract he desires.
I agree Stabbs - there are too many other glaring holes on this team that need addressed at 17 and 49. Just off the top of my head.....Getting gashed by the running game last year, the atrocious tackling, more speed off the edge at DE.....
I still say this is time for a bit of faith. Pair Greg's improvement with James Campen (best OL coach in the business) and you just may have the answer.

The Browns announced they waived receiver Daniel Williams on Monday.
Williams spent the final four weeks of the season on the team’s practice squad.
He originally signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Jackson State in 2017. The Jets waived him but later re-signed him to their practice squad.
Williams signed a futures contract with the Jets last year, but the team waived him a few months later. He had a stop in Washington before the Browns signed him to their practice squad in December.
The Browns had signed Williams a futures contract last month.
Glad the Browns saw fit to release the young man early with thought that he'd have a better chance of signing on with another team.....maybe one of his own choice it he's lucky.
Back to Greg Robinson for a minute - contract details:
Starter type money - $7M as a base, an additional $2M in incentives. Great way to reward Greg for his vastly improved play in 2018. If he proves to be successful in 2019 - I am sure that is the last box the Browns want to see checked prior to them feeling confident they have found Joe Thomas' long term replacement. Then the long term deal comes.
Very smart way of Dorsey doing business. 2019 becomes a way for a player to still feel dignified without committing the team to a risky contract. Once everyone feels really good about Greg, the left tackle position can be put to bed for at least a few years.
From the Combine................word is that the kid Dillard is suppose to be showing he could be top LT in draft. Heard it watching NFL Network yesterday.
Browns announce they have released LB Jamie Collins
By: Jeff Risdon | 3 hours ago 2 minutes
The Browns have released LB Jamie Collins, who thanked the team on Twitter Wednesday Collins played all 16 games last season and recorded 104 tackles, 4 sacks and an interception He was due to make more than $10M next season, but the Browns save $9.25 million in cap space
I hope they spend that money on someone worthy to take his place and be an upgrade in tenacity, desire and skills. They have to be going after Mosely, Ravens and I hope Landon Collins, S, Giants and/or the best defensive corner to match-up with Denzel Ward.
First contract numbers I am hearing are 3 yrs/$39 million/$21.5M guaranteed. But I am sure there is an out after year 2. This fills a major, major need.
And before anyone thinks the Browns majorly overpaid for Richardson - they probably did - they had to spend $44M or they would lose it. This is to meet the salary floor - a benefit to being so far under the cap for so long
Not to be greedy - but.......
I would trade Duke for a third rounder. I would then target Buffalo (at nine) or Denver (at ten). I would offer them #17 and the higher of the third round picks we have for their choice. Need to get above the Bengals at eleven.
I would not make this offer until those teams are on the clock, and he is still available - but I would pull the trigger in a heartbeat on this deal to select ILB Devin White of LSU.
Think Jamie Collins is a June 1 cut?
I am sure they are trying to trade him pre-draft and try to get something for him. The more likely and probable course of action will be a June 1 cut.
I'm thinking he might end up in Oakland and I hope we can at least get a middle round pick (bottom 5rd or top-middle 6th rd pick).
This is interesting.

A guy with one mark against him, vs a guy that has been suspended for more games than he has played, isn’t the same.
Gordon will probably be suspended again indefinatly.
Strong is a low risk situation.

I think this could be a sign that during the draft the LT position is not going to a top priority. jmho

The Browns have released LB Jamie Collins
Golly, I am shocked..... NOT! I heard on the radio on the way home - Collins was paid $30M for 27 games. Nice work if you can find it.
Hopefully this means they have a deal in place for Mosley. :)

No longer a rumor - the Browns are releasing Darren Fells. Until I see who they replace him with - Not. A. Fan. of this move.

Nothing to confirm this yet - but supposedly Fells was cut due to a failed physical.
Will become official tomorrow - but the Browns are signing DT Sheldon Richardson.
