The Browns have begun extension talks with Greg Robinsonâs agent and hope to sign the offensive lineman to a multi-year deal before free agency begins March 13, Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com reports.
Robinsonâs career was left for dead after three failed seasons with the Rams and another with Detroit. But the former second overall pick found new life in Cleveland after signing a one-year, $790,000 deal.
In his eight starts at left tackle, Robinson won the job for the future.
âGreg did such a great job and he understood how Baker Mayfield played, how he needed his left tackle to play,ââ former Browns left tackle Joe Thomas told Cabot. âAnd Greg was a like a sponge, the whole year learning from [former Browns offensive line coach] Bob Wylie, learning from those other guys in the room.
âTo be able to step in and play as well as he did is not an easy thing, especially at that position and especially for a guy thatâs kind of bounced around the league a little bit and hadnât found his role and his niche. He did an amazing job, and I canât wait to see what he looks like next year with a full offseason of preparation.ââ
I agree COMPLETELY. Too quickly, we want to throw someone out with the trash if they don't have instant success. He was the #2 overall pick for a reason - give him a full offseason behind arguably the best OL coach in the business.
Browns have started negotiation talks with free agent LT Greg Robinson.
Browns GM John Dorsey "hopes" that the two parties can come to a multi-year agreement, and it's likely that they will ultimately come to an agreement after Robinson expressed interest in returning to Cleveland. Robinson views the Browns as an organization that believes in him, and it showed during his mini-breakout during the last eight games in 2018.

I find it odd that so many people have complained about him holding too much. He gave up no sacks, and held 6 times in his starts. Yes, some of those holds were to avoid giving up a sack, but he did a very good job overall.
I'd like to see him back on a 3-year-deal. Something relatively team friendly in year two just in case this was a flash in the pan.
