This pick would be all about options and depth for the Browns. But Brooksie - ANOTHER running back for the Browns? seriously? Are you nucking futs? Whoa, whoa, whoa - let me explain.
Nick Chubb is the unquestioned leader of the running back corps - and deservedly so. His ever so successful rookie campaign demands that.
Yes, we signed rookie sensation Kareem Hunt but I think it is fair to say we should not plan on him until the final quarter of the season.
The only other back to be mentioned as a possible feature back is Duke Johnson. Let me be bold here - I don't think Duke is a Cleveland Brown in 2019. I think the Browns are beginning to develop many reliable offensive weapons. While Duke's offensive contributions have been far from bad - they have not been memorable. Couple that with his injury history, and his salary is known for the next couple of years - I predict Duke to be a Draft Day trade chip.
So, for the sake of argument, all this comes to pass, Then, the unthinkable happens in week 3 - Chubb goes down with an injury that means he misses at least a few games. Now your starter is........ Dontrell Hilliard? Wow, I like Dontrell as a role player, not as a feature back.
Scott possesses Chubb like size, top end speed and acceleration. He has a better physique to absorb the punishment that Duke simply cannot. And he is every bit the receiver that Duke is. I simply cannot see any reason why LJ is not an upgrade over Duke. I lost count of how many times in watching the first video the LJ just seemed too glide behind his lineman until he picked his hole - then bam! he firewalled it and was off to the end zone.
