The hype surrounding the Cleveland Browns is real. In addition to the expectations that the franchise is finally ready to ascend into relevancy comes a report that the city of Cleveland was awarded the 2021 NFL Draft.
This report comes via Jordan Zirm of Uproxx.
It comes just hours after NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport shared that the NFL would be making an announcement, and that Cleveland is among the teams that have been considered in the past.
Following in Vegas’ footsteps is a tall order. Yet the city of Cleveland is as die-hard a sports town as there is in America. It should be a blast.
I saw Jordan Zirm's report last night - and told my buddies about it. Since it was, at that time, a single report from a single source - they basically laughed at me. They told me to wait until the "official" word comes out today.
But this does appear to be gaining steam as credible.
This may be a novelty. Previous attempts to get the draft have had the first two days of the event held in downtown Cleveland. The Saturday portion of the event shifts to Canton and the campus of the Hall of Fame.

The 2021 NFL draft will take place in Cleveland, and the 2023 draft will be in Kansas City.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced the two future host cities today at the league meeting.
“It’s a big, big deal to our area,” Browns owner Jimmy Haslam said.
Kansas City has been considered a strong draft host for years, and is apparently getting the 2023 draft instead of the 2022 draft because the Kansas City airport is getting a major renovation that will be done in time for 2023.
“I want to say how excited we are as a family, and for our fan base in Kansas City, that we are to host the draft in 2023,” Chiefs owner Clark Hunt said.
The 2020 draft will take place in Las Vegas. There is no word on where the 2022 draft will be, but Denver, Detroit, Green Bay, Minnesota and Houston are all among the hosts expressing interest.
Is that Brooksie on stage there?
No it's not - LOL. What won us the bid is holding all three days in Cleveland
So, this is to mean we should disregard articles saying that the draft will be held at the HOF in Canton? If that is the case................what place in Cleveland would possess the best venue for the event, Brooksie?
Here is the preliminary plan
Public Square will be where the stage is - the crowd in Public Square, then going down Superior and Euclid. The Stadium is within walking distance
Looks like a couple of warehouses need to come down in advance of the draft.
