INGREDIENTS
(4) 1/3 to 1/2 pound burgers (I have used homemade or Aldi's FRESH preformed patties)
1 small can of Mushroom Stems and Pieces - opened
(4) Slices of Muenster cheese – already placed in single slices on a dinner plate
Steak Sauce (your favorite flavor)
(4) Hamburger Buns or Kaiser Rolls or Large Ciabatta Squares
(1) Dinner Fork
PREPARATION
Preheat the grill to 500°. (It would be the mother of all crimes to cook these in the oven).
Place beef patties on the grill and cook your favorite way to desired doneness. For my family, an 8 to 9 minutes cook bring the burgers home at an awesome medium rare.
Once the burgers are 99% done, turn all burners as low as they can go. (You still need some heat to complete the next steps.)
Move all 4 patties to the front of the grill in a straight line so you won't hit your hand on a hot grill rack.
Open the steak sauce. Using a circular motion, put a thin layer of sauce to cover the top of the burger. Close the lid for 2 minutes.
Reopen the lid. Stab some mushroom pieces out of the can with the dinner fork and slide them off into the steak sauce on top of the burger. (Now you appreciate why these burgers are at the front of the grill! LOL)
Once the mushrooms are in place – grab a slice of the Muenster Cheese and place over the top of the semi-assembled burger. Close grill lid for 2 or 3 minutes.
When you lift the lid of the grill if you see the cheese has truly molded to shape around the mushrooms and the burger, you are good to go.
You could plate these, and while they are resting, toast your buns
When ready, burgers to buns – and grub a dub dub.

Feel free to experiment with this recipe to your own tastes. This is how I make them - and my family LOVES them! I have also added grilled onions as well - whatever trips your trigger. I challenge you to try to find a burger this good when you eat out for less than even SIX times this cost.
Enjoy, my friends!
I like some caramelized onion on mine too.
